The Tomato Festival or La Tomantina can be best described as the world's largest food fight. It takes place on the last Wednesday of every August in the town of Buñol which is just outside of the port city of Valencia in southern Spain.
An annual event since the 1940's thousands of people travel to the town to throw 140 tonnes of tomatoes at each other over the course of the day. Tomato festival have sprouted up in various other cities but La Tomantina is the original.
The package on offer travels from London Heathrow 2 days prior to the festival and you will stay in central Valencia for 4 days in total. Valencia has some great beaches as well as bars and restaurants to visit whilst in the city. The city is also steeped in history and has some stunning architecture both modern and ancient.
